In class last Monday we started discussing about Computers. According to the lecture, a computer is an electronic machine that is capable of performing calculations on various types of information by using a stored set of instructions. Eventhough this is true, I have come to ask myself recently what exaclty is a computer? Is it just the device that I like to sit at home on and surf the web, play games, and look at blackboard, and bring to class for notes? Or are multiple new technologies we use in our everyday lives a computer as well? For example itouch, and iphones. You can do just as much on these devices that you can do on a desktop or laptop. I believe that in the future, computers and phones are going to merge into one device.

I believe that these technologies are going to merge into one device as well. However, I don't really like the idea of that actually happening. I personally enjoy having a specific device for a specific use. If all kinds of different features are applied to one single technology it would all just be too much, too cluttered.

I agree with the post above. The computer is so much more than a device that allows you to surf the web and play games. The computer has shaped our society into what it is now. It is fascinating to imagine what the computer and smart phones will be like in the future. I think with the quick rate that technology is evolving; the future is not so far away.
